My name is Haidy Perdomo, I’m Honduran and I live in Florida. I’ve always been slim and athletic. My passion was football, but when we left Honduras in search of the American dream, I missed my country so much that I couldn’t stop eating baleadas, fritanga, tortillas with fried beans, and lots of fried food. I got to weigh 186 pounds and be an extra-large cloth size. Years passed and there was nothing that made me lose weight. I decided that I would not post any photos on social media because I was so fat. By mistake, a friend posted a photo with me and I suffered a lot when I read a comment that said: “Stop eating, you’re going to explode!” What hurt me the most was that they were right.
