My name is Brenda Castillo, I am Salvadoran, and I live in Boston. I’ve always been the chubby one of the family. Ever since I was a child, everyone will say I was older because how fat I looked. When I was at school, I couldn’t dress like the girls my age because my friends were skinny and I looked like an adult for being overweight, my huge hips and my big breasts. I was terrified of mirrors! I didn’t accept my body since it wasn’t feminine but rather grotesque. I weighed 230 pounds and was a 1X size. My breasts were so big that I had to stop using bras because there wasn’t my size. I didn’t feel womanly wearing sports clothes and huge T-shirts while all my body fat, including my breasts, were sagging at a young age. I made many attempts to lose weight, but with my busy lifestyle, like many women, I felt that there was no way to achieve it. I’ve lost 84 pounds and fulfilled my dream to finally lose weight, feel confident and feminine, and to say Yes You Can!.
